Rally launches ‘Goal Zero’ for a day without traffic fatalities

Standing in the drizzle outside the Midland Horsehoe, area residents in and outside the oil and gas industry rallied Thursday to promote “Goal Zero,” an effort to have one day without a traffic-related injury or fatality.

Midland County alone saw 4,000 accidents in 2015, and from January to May of this year, the Permian Basin recorded 192 traffic-related fatalities, with more reported since, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
